Description

Saint Francis of Assisi, also known as Giovanni di Pietro di Bernadone was born in 1181 or 1882 in the Holy Roman Empire. Also known as Francesco, Saint Francis was the founder of the Order of the Friars Minor and the Women's Order of Saint Clare. Saint Francis was also responsible for the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land. He is often remembered as a patron saint of animals which led to Catholic and Anglican churches to hold ceremonial feasts dedicated to the blessing of animals. His foundations established him as one of the most iconic religious figures in history.
